Last week I made a
feeble attempt to take ‘t Kreng to the shed for summer storage, and take the
DHC home with me. As I enjoyed the driving to much the attempt failed. So today
I had another go. And this time I did reach the shed, but not before a final (short)
spring tour through the area with ‘t Kreng.
Decided on a final spring photo shoot at one of the many historical sites in the area. This time the parish church of Asselt. The origins of this church, dedicated to Saint Denis (the headless one), date back to somewhere between AD 700 and 1000.

And with the outside temperature
slowly rising it wasn’t too difficult to swap cars and return home with the DHC.
But before that I also took the DHC for a short drive to blow away the cobwebs
from 6 months of idleness and to check if everything’s functioning properly.
And it was. First check was the engine, that fired immediately after a few
turns, result. Looks like the effort I put in adjusting the fast idle mechanism
last year paid off! Even the brakes behaved as they should, though compared to ‘t
Kreng they always feel a bit feeble!
So with the car back
home I can slowly start with the various jobs in preparation for the 10 Countries Run in September, being;
- Replace brake master and servo;
- Check rubber fuel lines at the back;
- Fit and connect GPS bracket (=dash out job);
- Look into power assisted steering in combination with a quick rack.
