Early Dutch TR7 sales brochures

Final saga on my limited collection of Triumph TR7 memorabilia! Last month I posted two different (1980) Dutch TR7 sales brochures, featuring the DHC only. Time for two earlier TR7 brochures (both with the same publication no.  LI101). To start with an undated brochure featuring a 1977 model year car (the giveaway is the cars registration number, where the letter combination PD makes it a late 1976 or early 1977 car (though that might well be a non-existing number). And that makes the specifications rather interesting, as it lists a 4- speed gearbox, but with 5 forward ratios and also has the matching 5-speed 3.90:1 differential ratio. And the picture of the gear-lever knob says 5-speed!
But as ever all specifications are without obligation and can be changed without further notice …

Than the last Dutch brochure I have. At first glance it is identical to the one above, with the same item number (Publication No.  LI101) and the same car pictured. But the first thing that stands out is a difference with the licence plate, which is blanked of. Also a few of the pictures are different. But the most important difference is the fact that the car now has the badges for the 1980 model year (or according to the parts manual, 1979 onwards. On closer inspection of the pictures it becomes clear that the badges are retouched on the original pictures! Other small changes are a listed 5-speed ‘box and 185/70x13 tyres …

And yes, I haven’t been able to spent some time on my cars, mainly due to work and one of my other hobbies, playing my horns over the carnival season …

1980 Dutch TR7 DHC sales brochures

Or more Triumph TR7 memorabilia! A month ago I posted a late (1981) Dutch TR7 sales brochure, featuring both DHC and FHC cars. But among the various paperwork I found some more interesting Dutch TR7 brochures. To start with a leaflet for the 1980 TR7 Drophead. Strange thing is that the leaflet doesn’t have an item number.

The closed leaflet showing a DHC with the top up.

The inside of the leaflet.

And the “outside” of the opened leaflet.

The other item is a more comprehensive sales brochure, also for the European specification 1980 TR7 DHC. Again no item number on the brochure. But this one does have a dealer stamp from "Autobedrijf Damen & Kroes B.V.", who still supply services and parts for British Leyland cars!

TR7 Posters

I have never been much of a collector of TR7 paperwork, but over the years I have found or received a few interesting items. I always had plans to scan them so their quality loss, caused by old age, could be enhanced a bit with Photoshop. And with a few spare hours on my last working day of the year, I was able to pull three TR7 related British Leyland posters through the large format scanner at work.
To start with a publicity poster, as given away by Belgian dealers in the late 70’s. In this case a poster from a TR7 Rally car in action. Though it is a respectable size poster (868 x 598 mm) the picture quality and resolution is a bit poor. Age didn’t help here. But an interesting poster nevertheless!

And on the back of this poster a selection of the British Leyland cars available in Belgium at the time. The prices are interesting to say the least!

But the most interesting posters are these two large (1020 x 765 mm) multi language showroom posters. They show line drawings of some of the design features of the TR7 at the time of its introduction. So these posters probably originate from 1975 or 1976.

Publication No. AKM3614

Publication No. AKM3615

They will all be digitally restored over time, and prints of the last two will hopefully grace a wall in the house somewhere in the future!

1981 Dutch TR7 sales brochure

The title says it all. I found this brochure (Publication No. EO118) among the stuff I acquired after the death of a dear friend at the end of 2017. It is the brochure for ‘t Kreng’s model year, 1981. But more interesting is the dealer stamp on the back cover: Autobedrijf  Harrie Janssen B.V. What is so special about that? Well my DHC was sold new by him, traded in and sold to me in the summer of 1988.

And ‘t Kreng also bore a dealer sticker from this dealership when I acquired her
