Testing the DHC’s brakes

With all imaginable things done to the DHC’s brakes, it was the hour of truth today. Time for a little test drive. Even while reversing the car out of the drive, I thought I felt an improvement. Though that was difficult to judge as the servo usually needs a few seconds to build up its working vacuum. And sure enough after a few minutes the brakes were again as light as ever. With one clear difference: the pedal’s travel is noticeable shorter! And the pressure needed to slow down now is consistent, so a clear improvement. And the brakes feel much more confidence inspiring.
Though they are still far to light for my liking. This leaves me with some possible future modifications: Either fit 4-speed back axle brake cylinders, or fit a brake master cylinder with a bigger bore …

But as it is now, the braking system inspires confidence, though it takes some getting used to. And the car can be driven without problems. So for the time being I’ll stick with the current set up! Time to enjoy some local rural roads with the odd photoshoot thrown in!
