TR7 Posters

I have never been much of a collector of TR7 paperwork, but over the years I have found or received a few interesting items. I always had plans to scan them so their quality loss, caused by old age, could be enhanced a bit with Photoshop. And with a few spare hours on my last working day of the year, I was able to pull three TR7 related British Leyland posters through the large format scanner at work.

To start with a publicity poster, as given away by Belgian dealers in the late 70’s. In this case a poster from a TR7 Rally car in action. Though it is a respectable size poster (868 x 598 mm) the picture quality and resolution is a bit poor. Age didn’t help here. But an interesting poster nevertheless!

And on the back of this poster a selection of the British Leyland cars available in Belgium at the time. The prices are interesting to say the least!

But the most interesting posters are these two large (1020 x 765 mm) multi language showroom posters. They show line drawings of some of the design features of the TR7 at the time of its introduction. So these posters probably originate from 1975 or 1976.

They will all be digitally restored over time, and prints of the last two will hopefully grace a wall in the house somewhere in the future!

1981 Dutch TR7 sales brochure

The title says it all. I found this brochure (Publication No. EO118) among the stuff I acquired after the death of a dear friend at the end of 2017. It is the brochure for ‘t Kreng’s model year, 1981. But more interesting is the dealer stamp on the back cover: Autobedrijf  Harrie Janssen B.V. What is so special about that? Well my DHC was sold new by him, traded in and sold to me in the summer of 1988.

And ‘t Kreng also bore a dealer sticker from this dealership when I acquired her!

Calendar Girls 2020

on the day the DHC was brought home from het winter hibernation, to start the 10CR preparations.

It’s that time of year again! With the cars tucked away for the next two and a half months it is time for my annual look back at my TR7 year. Contrary to previous year there was some progress on the ’76 FHC, but most of my limited spare time was spent on the DHC’s brakes and dashboard. All in preparation for Club Triumph’s 10 Countries Run. But despite that I found some time to enjoy the cars.in between. So from a driving point of view, and bearing in mind the small amount of time I was able to spent driving the cars, 2019 again wasn't too bad. I managed to add 1893 kilometres to 't Kreng’s, and 4324 kilometres to the DHC’s odometer. The latter of course mainly thanks to the 10CR where the car covered 2756 kilometres in a little over 4 days!

And these trips supplied enough pictures for another TR7 inspired calendar to grace the study wall. I would have loved to compile a calendar with pictures that showed the progress on the ’76 FHC. But despite some progress on that car (boot lid finished, heater fitted together with the body trim mouldings and the doors), it wouldn’t provide enough images for a nice calendar. As a result I decided to stick to last year’s theme. So I had to pick 12+1 images taken during the various tours of the past season, to grace the study wall in 2020:

January:

In the “Mergelland” area between Wijlre and Ubachsberg, Heugdenweg, Fromberg (NL) during one of the final tours of the year.

November:

The “Hompesche Molen” south of the small fortified town of Stevensweert (NL).

December:

Final tour of the year, autumn colours and farmland near the village of Baarlo (NL).
