DHC repairs #21: Left hand sill and rear valance

Steady progress on the DHC’s body repairs. In this case finishing the repairs of the left hand sill and the repairs of the left hand rear valance. In my previous post I finished with a picture of the trial fitting of the strengthening panel for the rear of the left hand sill. Since then that panel has been welded in place:

Next step was fitting and aligning the outer sill panel and welding it into position:

Next area that needed attention was the large big gaping hole behind the left hand door. This was closed using part of the original panel that was cut out, and some cardboard aided design patch repairs. Forgot to take the pictures though!
And I finish this post with the repairs of the left hand rear valance. As the one on the opposite side, this one too had been badly affected by the tin worm. Luckily there was enough reference metal left, enabling more cardboard aided patch repairs.

And despite my currently pretty busy schedule I managed to take ‘t Kreng out for a decent 200+ kilometre spin last weekend. This was done under the guise of testing the car for next Saturday’s final control of the route for our annual Nachtrit which will be held on that same day.
