Car swapping, Take 2

Last week I made a feeble attempt to take ‘t Kreng to the shed for summer storage, and take the DHC home with me. As I enjoyed the driving to much the attempt failed. So today I had another go. And this time I did reach the shed, but not before a final (short) spring tour through the area with ‘t Kreng.
Decided on a final spring photo shoot at one of the many historical sites in the area. This time the parish church of Asselt. The origins of this church, dedicated to Saint Denis (the headless one), date back to somewhere between AD 700 and 1000.

And with the outside temperature slowly rising it wasn’t too difficult to swap cars and return home with the DHC. But before that I also took the DHC for a short drive to blow away the cobwebs from 6 months of idleness and to check if everything’s functioning properly. And it was. First check was the engine, that fired immediately after a few turns, result. Looks like the effort I put in adjusting the fast idle mechanism last year paid off! Even the brakes behaved as they should, though compared to ‘t Kreng they always feel a bit feeble!

So with the car back home I can slowly start with the various jobs in preparation for the 10 Countries Run in September, being;
  1. Replace brake master and servo;
  2. Check rubber fuel lines at the back;
  3. Fit and connect GPS bracket (=dash out job);
  4. Look into power assisted steering in combination with a quick rack.

A Fine Spring Evening

Spent a lovely spring evening in the country side with some likeminded (Triumph) friends. Good company, lovely driving roads and good food and a few drinks. What more could you want?

(and I just realise this was my 500th blog post)

Car Swapping

At least that’s what I set out to do yesterday; take ‘t Kreng for a short drive and fill her up at a fuel station across the border in Germany. After that I’d drive her to the shed to transfer all tools etc. to the DHC, tuck ‘t Kreng away in the shed and take the DHC home with me. All in preparation for a short tour with some friends this Saturday. And to start the preparations for the oncoming 10 Countries Run in September.

So far for the plan! Soon after I set off I strayed onto some lovely and rather empty country lanes, and completely forgot about the plan. Four hours later I was back home with a smile on my face, but with the DHC still in the shed. At least I passed some off my favourite photo stops, so I can bore you with some pictures of the car at some spots in the area 😜

Lush farmland close to the German border in Swalmen;

Needless to say that ‘t Kreng will be the car off choice for Saturday’s tour. But after that she will be dropped off at the shed at last and I’ll have to find out how the DHC behaves after 6 months of idleness!
